Hijacker working as airport cleaner

An Afghan hijacker, who won the right to stay in Britain, has been working as a cleaner at Heathrow Airport.

Nazamuddin Mohammidy was part of a group who hijacked an internal Ariana flight in 2000 and forced it to come to the UK, where they threatened to kill everyone on board unless they were granted asylum.

Mohammidy was stopped whilst driving round the airport, after police suspected he was an unlicensed cab driver. He was found to be carrying a British Airways pass.

Mohammidy claimed he was fleeing the Taleban when the aircraft was diverted to Stansted. He was jailed but his conviction was quashed by the Court of Appeal, and he has been living with his family rent-free and on state benefits which cost the taxpayer £150,000 a year. The other hijackers were also housed at the taxpayers’ expense

Their houses had large gardens, computers, video recorders and hi-fi systems. The Afghans were also  given lessons in English and computer skills at a nearby college.

Are these the kind of people we should be allowing to access aircraft? What other iffy individuals are employed by airlines? And this is yet another example of the foul Human Rights Act putting criminals first.
