A 19 year old student, believed to be a convert to Islam, has been arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 after police found a large number of possible bomb-making substances at his home.
Bomb squad officers carried out a controlled explosion in a Bristol suburb in the early hours of the morning. More than 30 people were evacuated from their homes, and they said the resulting explosion was like a plane crash.
The teenager was arrested in Bristol city centre yesterday and is being held at a police station near Bristol.
