Just when you think it can’t get any more stupid, it does! A father and son were banned from swimming at a public (supposedly!) sports centre because they are not Muslims.
The man, and his 10 year old son, were prevented from going in the pool at Clissold Leisure Centre in Stoke Newington, east London. Management at the sports centre said that staff had been wrong to turn away the pair from the designated men-only modesty session.
The council have said that these early morning sessions are aimed at those who have strict rules on segregation. the staff had described the session as “Muslim men only”. Even though father and son are both male, they were prevented from joining the session because they were not Muslims.
