Bonnie Prince Charlie was defeated at Culloden

On 16th April 1705, Isaac Newton was knighted by Queen Anne.

On 16th April 1746, Bonnie Prince Charlie was defeated by the English at Culloden Moor. He managed to escape and Flora MacDonald helped him leave the country.

On 16th April 1953, the Royal yacht Britannia was launched on Clydeside.
