King Henry II of England
On 25th March 1133, Henry II was born.
On 25th March 1306 Robert the Bruce was crowned King of Scotland at Scone Palace near Perth.
On 25th March 1876, the first football international between Scotland and Wales was played in Glasgow. Scotland were the winners, beating Wales 4-0.

The National Union of Teachers (NUT), the largest of the teaching unions, said that state schools should be forced to open their doors to Islamic preachers to teach children the Koran. The union also said that religious schools, which are mostly Christian, should admit pupils of other faiths.

Some judges are too soft on gun crime, according to a senior policeman. Merseyside Chief Constable Bernard Hogan-Howe said that some are overlooking the mandatory five year jail sentence for gun crime.
