Queen Elizabeth I
On 24th March 1603, Queen Elizabeth I died after being Queen for 44 years.
On 24th March 1877 the University Boat Race ended in a dead heat. In the same event in 1951, the Oxford boat sank.
On 24th March 1964 Stansted in Essex was chosen as London’s third major airport.

A 23 year old former soldier, who served in Iraq, has been banned from joining the police because he has the word “England” tattooed on his arm.
Craig Briggs applied to join the police at 18, after finishing his studies at Huddersfield Technical College. He was rejected because he was too young.

The mountain hare could be returning to Argyll and Bute
