Harlech Castle – last Welsh castle taken by Parliament
On 16th March 1647, Harlech Castle surrendered in the English Civil War. The castle was a Royalist stronghold, and was the last Welsh castle to be taken by Parliament.

A vicar in Wapping has been attacked by a gang of Asian youths who said that his church should be a mosque.
Canon Michael Ainsworth was kicked and punched in the head as one of the attackers shouted obscenities about him being a priest. He was left suffering deep cuts, bruising and two black eyes.
