MPs are demanding a £40,000 pay rise in exchange for giving up their allowances. This would take their annual pay to around £100,000.
There has been outcry recently over the revelation that MPs are allowed £22,110 each year to spend on kitting out their second homes. After the uproar surrounding this news, MPs have admitted they may now have to forego these luxuries. However, they are now demanding an increase in their basic pay of £61,820 a year, and some are calling for a £40,000 increase.
The MPs’ greed comes at a time when many people are struggling and in debt. MPs moan that they are paid less than head teachers and deputy head teachers
