Left wing teachers have called for a ban on army recruiting in schools as they claim it exposes children to pro-war propaganda.
The National Union of Teachers will hear a motion at their annual conference later this month urging members to oppose recruitment in schools.
The motion has been described as “deeply unpatriotic” and will add to the increasing concern over hostility shown by certain sections of society to the Armed Forces.
The Armed Forces are currently undergoing a recruitment crisis, and are having problems with retaining troops. The recruitment visits to schools have been scaled down, though they respond to invitations from schools and give many presentations.
