A man who knew the 7th July terrorists has been jailed for possession of an al Qaeda manual.
Khalid Khaliq of Beeston in Leeds admitted that he owned a CD containing the manual after it was found during a search of his home in July 2005.

The Bill to ratify the Lisbon Treaty has now cleared the final stages through the Commons.
MPs voted by 346 to 206 to approve the EU (Amendment) Bill after debates had lasted six weeks.

A laboratory which was blamed for the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in 2007 was branded “shabby” by an independent report into the outbreak.
The author of the report, Dr Ian Anderson, said that the virus should never have escaped from the government-run Pirbright complex in Surrey.

An Iranian asylum seeker who falsely claimed £25,000 in benefits has been ordered to pay back just £1.
Massoud Montazery claimed money in benefits even though he had £50,000 in a separate bank account.
A Proceeds of Crime application took place at Liverpool Crown Court in an attempt to make him pay back the falsely claimed money. [...]
