Migrant workers on a makeshift campsite in north London have been found to be killing and cooking swans.
They were discovered by an angler, who noticed the piles of feathers and stripped carcases. The angler notified the authorities, but the man, who was believed to be Eastern European, packed up his tent and escaped.

Jodrell Bank – under threat
British astronomy is set to suffer as its seven giant astronomy dishes are to be axed in order to save £2.5million each year.

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has unveiled a revised timetable for the introduction of ID cards.
