Mayor quits Tories after e-mail row

The Mayor of Mirfield, near Dewsbury, has left the Conservative Party after a row broke out over an e-mail he sent to a clerk.
Robert Bennett said in his e-mail that “Muslims cause mayhem with explosives”, that Muslim women wore “black sack-like clothing” and that Muslims wanted homosexuals shot.
